The Egg Got Spiced

What a long hiatus from the blogging world! I didn't disappear for bad reasons. In fact, 2008 has been a superb beginning!!! The Egg has re-entered the dating world! Yay!!! It is scary. On the one hand, I don't want to get carried away with emotions...But half of me is thrilled to be flirty again:) I thought the mojo was gone...hehehehe! Alas, there's a weird connection with this new guy. For one thing, we both have the same birthdays! Same year! And I happened to meet him at work on New Year's Day. What a perfect way to start the year! We'll see what happens...if the sparks continue, it'll be great. If not, then at least I got over the fear of dating...I was single for 5 long years!

Hope everyone is enjoying 2008! I sure am:-)

The Egg's 2007 Awards for Best Bloggers!

And now here are the Egg's 2007 awards for the best bloggers...

BEST COMMENTATOR
Hands down it goes to Aaron! He's usually one of the first to make a comment whenever a new entry is entered into the blogosphere! Thanks for your visits. You've taught me to appreciate the great outdoors more than ever:-) Vist his blog for some fantastic pictures of his excursions with his honeybunch.

FUNNIEST BLOG
I give this one to Mr. Shife! He may be a frat boy alumnus, but I think he's a real softie at heart:-) His entries are always full of humor. Makes you wonder about that phrase "Laughter is the best medicine!" Go to his blog for a good laugh whenever the need arises. You won't be disappointed.

BEST BLOG FOR SUPERNATURAL STUFF
No big shock...this goes to the Phoenix! Thanks for taking us into the unknown realm. I don't feel so alone with my spooky tales of life in a town called Salem! The truth is out there...

BEST BLOG FOR WITTY PHRASES
Yes, this is a special award for my buddy, Angel. His blog is also funny, but his expressions are out of this world. Sometimes I wonder where he comes up with the stuff...Here's a recent bit of his ramblings on nudity: "But this got me thinking about the documentaries I've seen about nudist colonies. The HBO reality show Real Sex has on occasion mentioned or shown some nudist colonies. This show is real and it's about sex, but it doesn't do real sex and justice. Mostly it shows wrinkled overweight people giving advice about orgasms. I'm wondering if the Playboy mansion is the only place where nudity involves really hot girls and not hairy hippies or retired voyeurs."

BEST BLOG FOR SPORTS
I'm no sports fanatic, but I give this one to Phats. He sure knows his stuff when it comes to football. And he's also a tennis coach. Every time I visit his blog, I learn something about football. Talk about passion for sports! I'm still not interested in the sport...my brother is watching a game right now, and all I hear is "Whoohooo!" or "YES!" Time for me to go home:)

BEST BLOG FOR INSPIRATION
Lastly I give this one to Blackcrag. A fellow gypsy, he has also moved around quite a bit...Unsure of where to go, and what to do with his life. Alas, he hasn't given up. He has persevered under the storms. I reassure him that everything will be alright. After all, this year has been a tumultous one for the Egg. I took an unknown road, and am SOOO happy for all the gifts that I've received. Gifts of knowledge from fellow bloggers, strangers, and friends. It wouldn't have happened if I didn't take the risk. Nothing is for sure, but we must be willing to take the journey into the unknown....Here's wishing you nothing but the best, Blackcrag! Happy New Year everyone!

Merry Christmas!

Twas the night before Christmas, Egg had many things to do but blog...I'm sorry for not visiting your blogs, but I've been swarmed at work. I'm doing further training for the job, thus I'm on my feet more than ever! I love it though. I'd rather be busy, than wait for the clock to tick to 11:30pm...

Speaking of work, I had a couple of rats to deal with...AGAIN! So the douchebag award would have to go to several co-workers (see last post). As I stated earlier, my goal for 2008 is to stand up for myself when the need arises. Recently the cattiness was so unbearable that I told the supervisor I'd leave if I wasn't on a different schedule. One douchebag had the nerve to tell someone else that I wasn't doing my job properly. Which is an utter lie!!! This is my first taste of exposure to the working world...jealousy and backstabbing. So, I confronted her and said that if she had a problem, then she come to me directly and not yap her mouth off to others. She got a taste of what it's like to spice the egg, and she didn't like it one bit. Stormed off like a madwoman....now I say "Rat" because I also offered to give this woman a ride to the airport a month ago. Alas there was car trouble, and I couldn't do it. Anyway, the supervisor told them to start acting their ages otherwise they'd be out of a job. Hmmm I wonder if this is why they've been extremely cooperative and friendly during the last couple of days. Once again, I've learned not to let others shit on you:)

My wish is for everyone to be more compassionate to others. After all, we're all riding this journey together. No need for snootiness during the holiday season (or any other day of the year!). Merry Christmas!!! (I'll be working, but I don't mind since I had Thanksgiving off and my parents are in India for the holidays. No problemo--I have New Year's eve off...whoohoo!)

The Egg's 2007 Awards Show...and now the award goes to....

2007...The Year That Was

LIFETIME SERVICE AWARD (longest friend) -
Ha...this is an odd one. Gypsy's life has been full of all sorts of friends. Longest? Well I'd have to have to give this award to Eileen (high school pal) since she always sent cards for the holidays (Xmas, st patty's, valentines...you name it!) while I was in Hungary. I tried to keep in touch with the high school buddies, but the hustle and bustle of school didn't allow for much maintenance. We all drifted apart for various reasons--such is life. Yet she always remembered me for every holiday--I'll never forget it...especially during the "I want to go back to America" moments..

NEWCOMER AWARD - COOLEST NEWEST FRIEND?
Sorry but this goes to several people...Ken & family, Terra & Mike, Melissa, Rob, Clay & Harry, Cliff & Connie (all from CCs--the gay bar!)

BEST REUNITED WITH FRIEND OF THE YEAR ?
Rebecca from high school--actually that was in 2006, but I'm glad that we got to reconnect after so many years. She was my partner in crime during high school:) Hehehe. We still laugh about the crazy shit that we pulled off...or so we thought!

HIGH POINT OF THE YEAR?
Starting a path of independence after years of expectations and rules...

LOW POINT OF THE YEAR?
Bitch fight with a co-worker....never mess with an Aries! Silly gal thought she could get away with her cattiness and rude behavior.

BEST HOLIDAY?
Thanksgiving

YOUR SONG FOR 2007?
An old one by The Steve Miller Band called "Jet Airliner" The lyrics made me think about busting a move. And it worked! Got out into the real world. Not the one with phone calls and emails. Real connections finally happened once I moved out and strayed from medicine/family...if anything the separation brought me closer to certain family members. Of course there's also LoveStoned by Justin Timberlake:)

MOVIE FOR 2007?
40 Year Old Virgin..kind of late, but I'm not fond of theaters anymore. Saw it on DVD and laughed like a maniac

WHO DID YOU SPEND VALENTINE'S WITH?
me, myself and I

WHAT WERE YOU FOR HALLOWEEN
nothing--I had to work and didn't think about showing up in a costume

RESTAURANT OF THE YEAR?
Brews N Bytes (coolest cafe in town!) all the way! Special mention to Four Seasons..

KISS OF THE YEAR?
all the ones from CCs regulars

BEST DECISION MADE THIS YEAR?
Leaving medicine

WHAT ARE YOUR PLANS FOR NEXT YEAR?
Continue working in the elder care field and begin a grad program in elder care management at Duquesne...what will I do without CCs?! Better enjoy it while it lasts!

MOST STUPID IDEA WHEN DRUNK?
crazy dance moves and pictures

TV SHOW OF THE YEAR?
NONE--if I get a chance, it's Daily Show and Colbert Report (and most of the 80s shows--I hate the new shows with a passion!)

MOST LOYAL FRIEND?
Hai and Anthi from med school--thousands of miles away, yet they'll call and yap forever...Hai doesn't even let me call. He'll call back. Norway isn't cheap, but I guess he's doing well with spare change:)

BIGGEST CHANGE OF THE YEAR?
Reinvention tour...Hair highlights, sassy wardrobe, awesome open-minded friends

BIGGEST DOUCHEBAG AWARD?
hmmm....that would be the douchebag coworker

NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTION?
Continue the reinvention tour, not give a flying f&*k about what others think anymore, stray away from negative energy vampires, use the talents wisely in a new profession, stick with hobbies (writing, biking, cooking and hiking), visit the old boarding school in India which has deep rooted memories...this is the place that forced me to grow up quickly and shed fear. Yet fears plagued my later years...and now is the time to overcome all fears!

Reasons To Be Thankful

Yes, I've been a slacker. My only excuse is that it was Thanksgiving, and I was too busy hanging with friends and family. And eating, eating, eating! Might as well stock up on body fuel for the winter! That's what usually happens. I eat like a maniac during the cold weather (I hate it!), and burn the fat off as soon as spring arrives. Anyway, I had a wonderful time this year. During the past few years, we didn't have much celebration due to various squabbles and lack of social connections. Well, this year I was invited to four different places! Confused about it all..I decided on one event. I figured it'd be too much of a hassle to drive around to all the other places--people scattered around the mountains. Yes, it was at the gay bar. The owners threw a free customer appreciation dinner. It was yummy and fun. I brought along a Hungarian wine, which was too strong for some taste buds:)

When I lived abroad, I got a lot of jokes about Thanksgiving from the other foreigners. Screw that I'd say. Either come and eat, or save the rants for another occasion:) Yes, it's one day of the year. We should give thanks every single day. But I like that it's a unique AMERICAN holiday. Nothing religious about it whatsoever. If you want, say a prayer before the meal. Otherwise it's just a great day to share the joy with everyone. Pig out, drink, and tell jokes. So here are the 10 things that I'm thankful for...

1) New friends from the gay bar...Such fun people, both gay and straight. No one is harsh or judgmental, and that's what I love about the atmosphere.

2) Working with the elderly has brought much light into my soul...One particular resident said some kind words which almost brought tears to my eyes. He said that the last months were some of the happiest since his arrival about four years ago. I don't think I've done anything but laugh at his jokes, and give the care that is necessary for that age group.

3) Living on my own has done wonders for my mental health. However, I'm sad to report that the roomie situation has turned sour. We had fun while it lasted, but I definitely need my own space. We have our differences, and I can see that it's time to move on..I've learned that I can't tolerate animal neglect! She's not my dog, but there's no excuse for not having dog food for more than a week. I was feeding her whatever leftovers I could find, and finally ended up buying dog food. After I sent the roomie a text message, she said "thanks but stop babying her--she knows she can get away with it with you" WTF???! I was rather furious that an act of kindness was blown off like that...Screw that, I'm outta there in Dec. I have to house-sit our own cats anyway. It'll give me time to look for another pad. (UPDATE: I found one! Whoohoo!)

4) New wardrobe..well, I splurged on clothes this year. I was living in house-pants and t-shirts for the past four years. I found no reason to dress up, but now I have fun getting dolled up on the weekends:) A woman deserves to feel and smell pretty. I highly recommend Euphoria by Calvin Klein--got it as a birthday present last year.

5) Standing up for my rights when it comes to slackers and rude people. I don't have to say anymore about that co-worker incident. And if someone doesn't smile back at you, it's their problem...not yours. Enough said!

6) New hair color. I finally got on the highlighting bandwagon. Why didn't I do this earlier? Change is good--nothing crazy, just enough to jazz it up a little.

7) Chocolate chip waffles and coffee for breakfast/brunch--I prefer the Giant brand..Eggo and I are finished!

8) Thanks to God for bringing such colorful people into my life. I always knew that I have to treasure the friendships from here and abroad--that they were brought into my circle for a reason. When I couldn't attend my best friend's wedding in Crete, she sent an email saying it's alright (it wasn't financially possible!), but that one of the reasons she wanted me to come was that her dad was ill and that he wished to see me. And that he loves me as one of his own. More tears again! I must have been Greek in a past life...

9) Sleep...I've had my love-hate relationship with sleep over the years. It's great now and I can't complain since I have work at 3pm:)

10) Finally, I'm thankful to all blogger buddies. You've all taught me so much over the past months. You have no idea how much of a wreck I was...luckily Angel convinced me to get back in the game. I appreciate all the comments and laughs. Some days when it's BLAH, the writing eases the pain and my troubles are released...SO here's to all of you! Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Santa has been arrested by the PC police

It's too early in the morning. Don't you hate it when you wake up for some unknown reason and can't fall asleep again?! Since I'm at my parents, it's an excuse to play with the cats. Fun-time is over--they just want to watch the early morning birds and animals. Now all I want is to crash...So, I'm checking the latest headlines and this one surely made me crack...Hahahahaha! I think I'd be afraid if I heard "HaHaHa" from Santa. What happened to the Christmas spirit?! I'm not speaking for all women--I wouldn't be offended. Have a good weekend! Laugh and be good:)
