Random Thoughts About This Summer
1) The Bills lost AGAIN. I'm still a fan. I can't give up on my hometown team. Before I leave this Earth, I'd like to see them win a Superbowl...
2) For a few weeks, I was subjected to bullying by a much younger co-worker, who was apparently battling his own inner demons. We're good friends, so I was shocked by his behavior. Finally I reported the abuse to my boss, who also happens to be his mother. She gave it to him good and finally he apologized. He felt so bad that he came over to my place with pizza and wings. I accepted the apology and gave him a lecture about rage. We're like siblings, so I couldn't just give up on him...
3) My roommate is nothing like Angel Jr. She's reserved, and somewhat cold. Sometimes I feel like it's just a hotel for her. I think if you have a roommate, you must be able to acknowledge the other's presence. I don't even hear a good-bye (when I'm sitting in the living room) as she's leaving the house. I don't think I want her to sign the lease in Oct.
4) I'm going to my first rock concert (at the local fair) in a couple of weeks. My friend and I are going to rock out to a band called Seether. I've never heard of them:) I just want an excuse to have a Personal Holiday...and to feast on fair food.
5) For the past three weeks, I've been eating waffles for breakfast. With just butter. It's a personal reward. For many months, I was forced to eat Shredded Wheat because, um, well, I had two small external hemorrhoids. It's not TMI! And I'm not ashamed to tell you. I'm just raising the awareness for a high fiber diet. Don't neglect your colon! And drink plenty of water. I paid the price for my neglect in a bad way.
6) You guys must think I'm a real whack job.
7) I cooked with the herbs and tomatoes from my garden. It was a great feeling!
8) The health care debate is driving me crazy. I saw a lunatic on Anderson Cooper last night. He didn't make any sense to me. I wish we could just let all of these crazies build their own community and live their version of utopia. Leave the rest of us alone.
9) Kanye West is a douchebag. I pity the woman who falls for his "charms." In my opinion, he has none.
10) I hope you all have a wonderful week of silly fun and laughter:) We could certainly use it with all the chaos around us.

Wedding With A Funny Lady
Last weekend I took an Alzheimer's resident to her granddaughter's wedding. About a year ago, her family had asked me if I could bring her, since they were going to be busy with the big day. She's touched my heart in many ways, so I was happy to say yes. I was allowed to bring a guest--I picked my former co-worker and current landlady (Angel Jr was busy!). The trip went well! I was afraid that she'd be hesitant to get in the car. Normally the daughters take her to appointments, holiday gatherings, etc. Alas, it was a success. Her family was delighted to see her and she made everyone laugh with her witty comments. At the reception, as soon as we sat down, she guzzled the glass of champagne. I guess she thought it was water?:) And then there was that jalapeno popper which she readily accepted from the waiter...She immediately spit it out and said "Here. You eat it"
We made sure that she was back by 9pm. At the end of the day, a person suffering from dementia might not remember your name, but he/she will remember the kindness of others. That's the secret to dealing with this disease. She tells her daughters "She's good to me" as I'm walking in the halls. I sort of cringe because I feel that's how everyone should be with her (and others like her)...

Egg Opens Up Her Home And Self
For a long time, I was accustomed to living alone. I can't count the times when I lived with my family. I've had some roommates, all of different backgrounds and personalities at various stages of my life. The best roomie had to be Angel Jr, who stayed with me for about three months. We just clicked perfectly and never had any serious problems, except when he had to deal with my hormonal rages. I can be such a crab hehe!
Recently I opened my home to a friend, who just moved back to the area. She's in my age range, and pretty down to earth. And also very artistic! And compared to the Egg, she cooks on a regular basis. Perhaps I can pick up some good habits:) I just hope that she likes it here. All is fine, except I think I'm more hyper and tend to talk about anything and everything. My worry is that she'll get annoyed with my quirks! I suppose if that does happen, then I'll just have to accept it...
Living alone means too much freedom. You can be a slob, talk to the wall, fart without inhibitions, keep opening the fridge every hour (when you know there's nothing in there except for condiments), etc. Once a person shares the same dwelling with you, the right to respect each other's personal space becomes very important. Yet, parts of you will be exposed whether you like it or not. Don't worry...I'm keeping the farts to myself! I can't believe I just wrote that...

Channeling The Dark Side
For the past two years I've been living without a television, which used to be one of my best friends. To my surprise, I had found that I could live without it. Don't get me wrong, I still catch episodes of my favorite 80's shows, Family Guy, or Daily Show if I get an opportunity. And if I do get an urge to watch anything, I usually find something on youtube (most recently it has been a fascination with 48 hour Mystery episodes!). Without the TV, I also read more books and took up new hobbies like gardening and facebooking...
I'm not going to criticize anyone who watches TV. It's entertainment, a learning tool and also a sleep inducer. But I'm also mystified by the crap that I find on it. When I'm having a slow night at work, I'll usually spend time with one of my elderly residents who happens to be a night owl. He always throws me the remote and says "It's all yours." While channel surfing, I came across "Megan Wants A Millionaire" and "Dating In The Dark." Obviously Megan is just using this show to boost her acting career. Good luck sister! I think I felt more nauseous by the "Dating In The Dark" episode. Two women rejected two great guys. One thought the dude was being too forward. Huh? What's wrong with that? It's not like he groped her or anything! And she seemed to like it. The second woman thought her guy wasn't tall enough, but that everything else about him was fine. They didn't even give the guys a chance. Well good luck to those sisters too! I got so mad that I turned it off.
Once again I had to remind myself that the TV isn't always reflection of me..."It's not always about you Egg. There's lots of nutjobs like you out there." Okay at one time in my life, I also judged guys based on their height or touchy feely ways. I realized later that one will indeed be left in the dark if certain imperfections, whether financial or physical, aren't overlooked...Egg is quite happy with Mr. Egg right now. He thinks that she's crazy because she doesn't find his belly to be an issue...if it was a matter of morbid obesity, it'd be another story! And besides, he gives the best hugs:-)

Egg's Sabbatical
So, I've been on hiatus since last year. Not because I was traveling to exotic places, or hiding in the witness protection program. I simply slacked off and put the blog on hold...I apologize for the disappearing act, which was sudden and without warning. Basically I lost the courage to write. I found that I had lost inhibtions with the writing (you know...opening up freely) and that sort of frightened me. Does that happen to anyone else out there?! You feel a sense of freedom when you write, and then later on, you're scared that you let yourself loose...Alas, I had to remind myself that I gained a lot of strength from reading your stories and comments which were always full of encouragement
I hope to catch up with everyone. And hopefully I'll have entertaining stories to share again. Jeez I look back at my earlier entries, and wonder what I was thinking with some of the rants. HA! They seem trivial right now:)

"There is always something left to love. And if you ain’t learned that, you ain’t learned nothing."--from A Raisin In The Sun
My mood is a lot better than the last time. I was going through a whirlwind of emotions for whatever reasons. I really am an easygoing person, and can take poke fun of myself (98% of the time!). Anyhoot, I am back to being the crazy, silly egg that I am known for being:)
Recently I was saddened to read about a blogger's loss of a loved one. I sent him an email saying that I was touched by his words, and that it reminded me of how much I love my ma. And pa. Yes, I've had some turbulent times with my family. Especially with my father. After I moved out last year, I had no contact with him for about three months. Alas, we slowly reconciled and I make attempts to visit when time permits. I realized that I can't change his ways, and life will simply be miserable if I try to...I had to learn to forgive the wrongs of the past. No I won't be able to erase the wrongdoings, but I can look forward to light-hearted moments, which can be sporadic and surprising. Last night I was home for a brief visit. When my dad came back from the office, he asked if I wanted to watch Sidney Poitier's "A Raisin In The Sun." He asked a few times before, and I'd keep saying another time. I knew I should sit down and watch this classic. It was everything that I had expected. Powerful storyline that involved the strength of a family's bonds tested by harsh prejudice and poverty. After we finished the movie, my dad asked if I liked the movie. I said yes and that it probably is 100 times better than the P. Diddy version:). He said bye and to take care of myself...

Irritable Egg Syndrome
I'd like to take this time to vent about sarcastic comments that have been made recently....
1) I like to blow my cash at JcPenny's because I can't blow it at a Ralph Lauren store. Besides I still like to shop in the junior's department! Very reasonable and stylish items for my hard earned money's worth. Ya I'm proud to say that I shop in the junior's dept! Telling others of my "bad" shopping habits is uncalled for and very rude. I should also add that in the past year, I've bought things without guilt. When I had my loan for med school, anything that I bought had a tone of "you don't deserve this." Ever since I left home, I've learned to splurge on things that I wanted...and deserved!
2) I like to sleep late and wake up late because my body is wired differently than most people. I used to be quite the insomniac, so I've learned to fall asleep when the body says it's time and wake up whenever my sleep cycle has ended...I also like to vegetate in the bed before actually getting my ass up.
I like to laugh and can make fun of myself. But I also have LIMITS. Trashing friends in front of others is something that happens in drunken rages. Especially if the others include people you don't really know! I wish I could take the punches, but I can't...I'm a gal. I don't have balls. But I do have the balls to tell you that you've hurt me. End of IES (derived from Irritable Bowel Syndrome)
