Baby steps. I know most of the lines to "What About Bob?" Call that pathetic, or a bizarre talent. I think it should be required viewing for humanity. Even more weird...is that I can find a Bob Wiley moment in everything. No, I'm not from another planet. The Earth is my home.
Today I overcame a fear of highways. Well, it didn't happen overnight. It was a gradual process. About 12 years ago, I had an accident with a semi-truck. It wasn't serious; no one was hurt. Still the whole scenario was traumatic. Never thought I'd find myself in the back of the police car, along with the semi-truck driver. I was scared. The car had a new paint job--just 2 weeks prior to the hit. And I had to explain to an overanxious family that it wasn't my fault. The accident report was in the local paper. People had a good laugh--it was a small town. The rest of that summer was a blur. So, this incident was another reason to avoid driving in heavy traffic. Luckily I didn't drive when I lived abroad--who'd want to if cheap taxis and buses are widely available?! Indeed I'd hyperventilate if I had to drive.
So, this is a small step. Especially for this country bumpkin! Moving to an urban area requires adjustments (i.e. ignore the people who honk and make angry faces). It involves many turns and risks. With gas prices being so high, I may move back to the hills!

You are right on about "Bob." Everyone needs to take baby steps with something in their life. So good luck and way to go. Be strong.
Hey thanks for the comment! Good luck with driving on the highways. I wouldn't know what to do without them, but a semi incident would be scary and is one of my fears---I try and stay clear of them on the roads.
PS Bob rules! =)
Mr. Shife-Thanks! Yes, we have to start somewhere. That's what I've realized.
Nutz-Bob is hilarious! Has a slight attachment problem-he reminds me of myself. Which is why I'm practicing the loner phase (for now).
Awww I LOVED that movie!! Bill Murray just cracks me up in it and Richard Dryfuss does such a great job of being the 'straight man'! Good luck with the highways. I was a country bumpkin who had to move to the city. It took a while to get used to not seeing any tractors on the road, but you DO get used to it. Safe driving!
