Moms Are Best!

"All that I am, or hope to be, I owe to my angel mother."--Abraham Lincoln

In honor of Mother's Day I'd like to pay a special tribute to another egg, my dearest Mom. Dearest Mom has come a long way. I feel that her accomplishments are overlooked. No, she doesn't have any fancy degrees. In fact, when she came to the Land of the Free, she didn't speak English. That was 25 years ago. Now I can say that most of our conversations are in English. What a great achievement! Sure there are mistakes, but she tries....

Leaving a native land can be a difficult experience (especially when she had to leave us kids behind!), yet she has remained steadfast to her traditions and faith. And she adapted to new traditions. We always have a fusion of both cultures. Along with our festivals, we also celebrate Thanksgiving and Christmas (usually eating and watching old classics like "What About Bob?" and Andy Griffith/Three's Company reruns). When football season is in the air, she'll watch some games with the son. I get a kick out of it! I'm also proud of her driving abilities. Our movers were amazed at her navigation skills..."She's like mapquest!" And her strength....man can she lift! Some might see her as an ordinary housewife. I see her as a superwoman, who does it ALL. When my brother and I went abroad, she came to the rescue during stressful exam periods. How did she put up with my mood swings?! I was a wrecking ball during those times! She saved the day with a hot meal, and hug. Some of my classmates wondered when she'd be back again--they had their first taste of Indian food. I was glad that their taste buds were heightened to other levels! I'm so proud of her talents. She's beyond amazing! Geez I'm feeling a bit verklempt now!

I didn't get her a fancy gift. She doesn't like extravagance. I chose a Garfield card, which was short and sweet. She loved it, and said that it was perfect. Happy Mother's Day!

Hello. The Egg! Thanks for visiting my universe (blog)! Sorry it took me awhile to get here as I have been too pre-occupied (by a boy hehe).

I'll put you on my blogroll so I find my way back here! :-)

+1 for Indian food. I could do without the gas, but it's good stuff.

And +1 for Moms. Mine snuck out of town for the weekend, so I didn't get to see her. I don't mind, she and Dad rarely take anything worthy to be called a vacation.

A mom like mapquest? How could she NOT be the best! My mom and I both lack the ability to find an address even if given the address, a compass, a tourguide and a photo of our destination, but I love her just the same!

Angel-Indeed all moms rule!
Missy-Your universe rocks! Thanks for visiting mine.
Nutz-Yeah it was a sappy post:)Simple cards can do it for me, too. The Garfield card brought up so many memories, thus the post!
DoubleA-Agree about the gas! Spices should be in moderation. Good that your parents managed a getaway.
Brandy-I don't have a good sense of direction. I'll have to write about my Greyhound adventure. You'll crack up!
